A method of providing environment data for a driver assistance system on board a motor vehicle comprises the following steps: determining a route (SABZ) to be traveled on, providing environment data along the determined route, additional environment data (220) along an initial portion of a new route (AC) deviating from the initial route being provided, determining that the motor vehicle actually travels on said new route, determining an alternative route which comprises the new route traveled on, and providing environment data along the alternative route.
