[0099] Skin penetration of dipeptides was measured in vitro using a Franz diffusion cell. Franz cell chambers are recognized in vitro skin penetration test devices to determine the extent of penetration of a given product into or through the skin. The Franz cell apparatus consists of two main chambers separated by a membrane. The membrane in this experiment was cut from a porcine skin sample and placed between the chambers of a Franz cell with an effective diffusion diameter of 0.9 cm. The receptor chamber had a volume of 4.2 ml and was filled with a receptor fluid consisting of 20% ethanol in water.
