Abstract

The invention discloses an OTA (over the air) upgrade method and device. The method and the device are used for solving the problem that the user experience is lowered since the upgrade process is long in time consuming when the existing OTA needs to be upgraded to the highest version. The method comprises the following steps: an OTA server acquiring a version number of the current version of a terminal after receiving an upgrade request sent by the terminal; the OTA server determining the version number of the highest version in the OTA server and determining all differential upgrade packets from the version number of the current version to the version number of the highest version of the terminal; the OTA server sending all differential upgrade packet to the terminal so that the terminal can be upgraded to the highest version at once. Since the terminal can be directly upgraded to the highest version at once, not only the interaction time between the terminal and the OTA server is shortened, but also the user experience is improved.
