The rock wool is prepared from the following formula materials: 49% to 52% of pulverized fuel ash, 48% to 50% of desulfurized gypsum and 3% to 5% of waste glass, wherein the pulverized fuel ash is wet discharged ash with the natural water content of 12% to 18%; and the desulfurized gypsum has the natural water content of 10% to 13%. The preparation method comprises the following steps: weighing the materials according to proportions of the material formula; storing the pulverized fuel ash, the desulfurized gypsum and the smashed waste glass in a silo and carrying out mechanical agitation so as to obtain a dried mixed material; carrying out aging, roll grinding and briquetting on the dried mixed material and then naturally hardening so as to form lump materials; adding the hardened lump materials and coke into a cupola furnace according to the weight ratio of the coke to the lump materials being 1 to 4, blowing hot air into the cupola furnace so as to melt the mixed material to form a silicate solution, and throwing the silicate solution in a centrifuge so as to obtain fibrous materials; and feeding the fibrous materials into a settling chamber by virtue of high-pressure air, and delivering the fibrous materials by virtue of a net conveyor so as to form the pulverized fuel ash desulfurized gypsum rock wool.
