Embodiment Construction

[0017] The present invention relates to a process for the fluid catalytic cracking of oxygenated hydrocarbon compounds of biological origin. Such fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) processes may suitably be carried out in a fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) unit comprising one or more fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) reactors.

[0018] Modern FCC plants can operate continuous processes that can operate 24 hours a day for periods of two to four years. A detailed description of FCC technology can be found, for example, in "Fluid Catalytic Cracking technology and operations", by Joseph W. Wilson, published by PennWell Publishing Company (1997), and in "Fluid Catalytic Cracking; Design, Operation, and Troubleshooting of FCC Facilities", by Reza Sadeghbeigi, published by Gulf Publishing Company, Houston Texas (1995).

[0019] The process of the present invention involves fluid catalytic cracking of oxygenated hydrocarbon compounds of biological origin. Here, "hydrocarbon compound" prefera...

Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for fluid catalytic cracking of oxygenated hydrocarbon compounds of biological origin, said method comprising: allowing a feed comprising oxygenated hydrocarbon compounds of biological origin and a certain amount of sulfur to be mixed with a fluid catalytic cracking catalyst at a temperature equal to or higher than 400 C to produce a product stream; separating the fluid cracking catalyst from the product stream and separating the light fraction from the product stream; and removing hydrogen sulfide from the light fraction by an amine treatment process in which Activated carbon is used in treating at least part of the amine solution used in the amine treatment process or treating at least part of the feed to the amine treatment process.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a process for the fluid catalytic cracking of oxygenated hydrocarbon compounds of biological origin. Background technique [0002] Fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) is an important conversion process in current refineries. It can be used to convert high boiling hydrocarbon fractions of crude oil origin into more valuable products such as gasoline components (naphtha), fuel oils and (olefinic) gases (ethylene, propylene, butenes, LPG). [0003] With the reduction of crude oil supply, the application of renewable energy is becoming more and more important for the production of liquid fuels. These fuels from renewable sources are often referred to as biofuels. Such renewable energy sources can also be used as feedstock for fluid catalytic cracking processes. [0004] For example, Tian Hua et al. published in the Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering, vol.16(3), pp. 394-400 (2008) entitled "Alternative Processing Technolo...
