[0017] Methods, computer program products, and systems for attenuation correction of PET scan data are described. For the purpose of attenuation correction (AC), multiple MR scan data sets were acquired during the duration of the PET acquisition. MR scan data sets may be acquired at intervals during the PET acquisition. Acquisition of MR-AC scan data sets may advantageously not involve as much time as full MR data acquisition (eg, diagnostic MR scans). Magnetic resonance AC (MR-AC) data is determined from multiple MR scan data sets based on detection of volume motion of the scan during PET acquisition. Motion is detected based on evaluation of scan data acquired during PET acquisition (eg, evaluation of spatial alignment). Knowing when motion occurred during the PET acquisition, MR-AC data can be selected or otherwise determined for alignment with the PET scan data. MR-AC data can thus be naturally aligned with PET scan data. Improved PET imaging can thus be provided while...
