Abstract

The invention relates to a radio frequency (RF) automatic gain control (AGC) system and a method thereof. The system comprises a low-noise amplifier, an RF variable gain amplifier (VGA), an RF power detector and an RF AGC logic, wherein the low-noise amplifier is matched with the RF VGA and is used for carrying out AGC on a received RF signal; the RF power detector is used for detecting output signal energy of the RF VGA and outputting a detecting signal to the RF AGC logic after comparing the output signal energy with a preset value; and the RF AGC logic is used for respectively generating a control signal which is used for controlling a gain of the low-noise amplifier and a control signal which is used for controlling a gain of the RF VGA according to the detecting signal transmitted by the RF power detector. The RF AGC system and the method thereof provided by the invention realize RF AGC in a digital circuit manner, thus a simple, efficient and reliable solving scheme is provided for the AGC of an RF end of a mobile television receiver chip.
