Abstract

A continuous casting method which can prevent solidification of a molten steel surface and can improve quality of a casting slab and stability of an operation by controlling the absorption coefficient of a mold flux during a molten mold flux operation is provided. As a mold flux used in continuous casting, the mold flux has an absorption coefficient of 1000 / m or more relative to a wavelength of 500 to 4000 nm in the molten state, does not contain fluorine, contains 2 wt.% or less of a transition metal oxide, and has a basicity of 0.5 to 1.5. A continuous casting method comprises the steps of: melting a mold flux that has an absorption coefficient of 1000 / m or more relative to a wavelength of 500 to 4000 nm in the molten state, does not contain fluorine, contains 2 wt.% or less of a transition metal oxide, and has a basicity of 0.5 to 1.5 outside a mold; and controlling a flow amount of the molten mold flux to inject the molten mold flux into the mold over the entire continuous casting process.
