Embodiment 1

[0053] The levels of bioenhancers used were as follows:

[0054] i. From caraway seeds: extract 30mg / kg body weight (rat); fraction 1: 15mg / kg body weight (rat)

[0055] ii. Piperine: 8mg / kg body weight (rat)

[0056] iii. Ginger: 35mg / kg body weight (rat)

[0057] The drug used was rifampicin (40mg / kg). The drug is administered to rats alone or in combination with the bioenhancer in the following manner:

[0058] Group 1: Control group

[0059] Group 2: rifampicin alone

[0060] Group 3: Bioenhancer alone

[0061] Group 4: rifampicin and caraway bioenhancer

[0062] Blood was collected from control / treated animals (0-24 hours) at pre-set intervals (14 times in total). Rifampicin was extracted from the blood (plasma) using dichloromethane. Use HPLC (model: Shimadzu 1080 BP); PDA detector to determine the concentration of rifampicin in the sample. The mobile phase is phosphate buffer saline: acetonitrile in a ratio of 40:60, and the flow rate is 1.0 ml / min.

Abstract

The present invention relates to the use of extracts of Carum carvi as bioenhancers, either alone or in combination with piperine or Zinzeber officinale extract to improve the bioavailability of a wide variety of drugs.

Description

field of invention [0001] The present invention relates to the use of bioavailability and / or biopotency enhancers, also known as bioenhancers or BE, and processes for their preparation, including their isolation from natural sources and their final product in chemically characterized and fingerprinted form . [0002] The present invention relates to the preparation of active extracts / fractions from the plant Caraway (Carum carvi), including their chemical characterization, fingerprinting and use of such products to enhance the bioavailability and availability of pharmaceuticals, natural products and essential nutrients. / or biological efficacy. The present invention relates to the preparation of a complex enhancer comprising polar or non-polar extracts of ginger (Zingiber officinale) and / or piperine (for example: Piper nigrum and Piper longum), It can significantly increase (50-180%) the bioavailability of various drug classes such as but not limited to antibiotics, antifun...
