Abstract

The multicasting flow merging method backing up VCR function has the server side to provide the client side with multicasting video service, and the client side to access the active buffer memory and with control and request mechanism to create condition for the flow merging in the server side. In the server side adopting the flow merging mechanism, when some new client joins the system, the broadcaster requests data to the buffer memory, the buffer memory controller checks the data inside the buffer memory, and the corresponding data, if existing, will be returned to the broadcaster for direct broadcasting; or, in case of no data, request will be sent to the server and the server returns to the multicasting flow address for the receiver to receive the flow data from the corresponding address. The present invention provides one synergistic mechanism between the client side and the server side.
