The traditional Chinese medicine composition for treating atopic dermatitis is prepared from, by weight, 3-10g of ephedra, 5-20g of fructus forsythiae, 5-15g of cicada slough, 5-20g of campsis grandiflora, 20-40g of phaseolus calcaratus, 20-35g of sea-buckthorn, 5-20g of cortex dictamni, 5-20g of fructus kochiae and 5-12g of raw liquorice. The invention provides application of a traditional Chinese medicine composition in preparation of a medicine for treating atopic dermatitis. The traditional Chinese medicine composition provided by the invention can obviously relieve atopic dermatitis skin erythema, hemorrhagic spots, dry skin and scale or moss change, reduce percutaneous moisture loss, reduce the pH value of skin and improve the pathological manifestation of skin lesion histopathology. The traditional Chinese medicine composition provided by the invention is superior to a positive control medicine mometasone furoate in the aspects of reducing percutaneous moisture loss and reducing scratching behaviors.
