Problems solved by technology

[0005] However, the rubbing method of rubbing the surface of the liquid crystal alignment film made of polyimide or the like may cause problems such as dust generation and static electricity.
In addition, due to the high-definition of liquid crystal display elements in recent years, the unevenness caused by the electrodes on the corresponding substrate and the switching active elements for liquid crystal driving, it is impossible to rub the surface of the liquid crystal alignment film evenly with a cloth, and it may not be possible. Achieving Uniform Liquid Crystal Alignment

Synthetic example 1

[0326]

[0327] Dissolve MA-1 (10g: 30mmol), MA-2 (15g: 50mmol), MA-3 (8g: 20mmol) in NMP (227g), degas with a diaphragm pump, add AIBN (0.5 g: 3 mmol), degassed again. Then, it was made to react at 60 degreeC for 6 hours, and the polymer solution of the methacrylate was obtained. This polymer solution was added dropwise to methanol (2000 mL), and the obtained precipitate was filtered. This precipitate was washed with methanol and dried under reduced pressure to obtain methacrylate polymer powder P1.

Synthetic example 2

[0328]

[0329] Dissolve MA-1 (10g: 30mmol), MA-2 (15g: 50mmol), MA-4 (9g: 20mmol) in NMP (233g), degas with a diaphragm pump, add AIBN (0.5 g: 3 mmol), degassed again. Then, it was made to react at 60 degreeC for 6 hours, and the polymer solution of the methacrylate was obtained. This polymer solution was added dropwise to methanol (2000 mL), and the obtained precipitate was filtered. This precipitate was washed with methanol and dried under reduced pressure to obtain methacrylate polymer powder P2.

Abstract

The present invention provides: a liquid crystal alignment film to which alignment control ability is imparted with high efficiency and which has excellent tilt angle characteristics; a polymer composition that provides the liquid crystal alignment film; and a liquid crystal display element. The present invention provides a method for producing a substrate having a liquid crystal alignment film to which alignment control ability is imparted, the method comprising: [I] a step for forming a coating film by applying a polymer composition containing an organic solvent (B) and a polymer (A) having, in separate side chains, a moiety that induces in-plane alignment in a direction (S-wave direction) perpendicular to a parallel direction (P-wave direction) of polarized ultraviolet light and a moiety that induces out-of-plane alignment, to a substrate having an electrode for liquid crystal driving; [II] a step for irradiating the coating film obtained in [I] with polarized ultraviolet light having S waves as a main component from a diagonal direction; and [III] a step for heating the coating film obtained in [II].

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a novel polymer composition or a novel liquid crystal alignment agent, a liquid crystal alignment film formed using it, a substrate with the liquid crystal alignment film, a liquid crystal display element with the substrate, and a method for manufacturing a substrate with the alignment film . Furthermore, it is related with the novel method for manufacturing the liquid crystal display element excellent in tilt-angle characteristic. Background technique [0002] Liquid crystal display elements are known as light-weight, thin and low-power-consumption display devices, and they have been used in large-scale television applications in recent years, achieving remarkable development. The liquid crystal display element is constituted, for example, by sandwiching a liquid crystal layer between a pair of transparent substrates provided with electrodes. In addition, in the liquid crystal display element, an organic film formed ...
