The invention provides a method for reading and decoding a bar code by applying an enhanced code reading mode, which comprises the following steps of: shooting a plurality of image bar codes when thebar code quickly passes through decoding equipment, and decoding the shot image bar codes one by one within a longer time interval before the next article pasted with the bar code to be decoded arrives; and until all the bar codes in the image are decoded, outputting the decoded data. According to the invention, a plurality of shot bar code images are decoded in sequence by utilizing the long moving time of the interval distance between two articles pasted with bar codes to be decoded, so that the plurality of bar code images comprise a clear and complete bar code image, the decoding time is sufficient, the decoding accuracy is high, and the situation of missing decoding can be effectively prevented.
