[0044] Disclosed herein are systems, devices and methods for detecting cardiac arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation (AF). The AF detection system includes sensor circuitry for sensing physiological signals, a heartbeat processor for identifying beat patterns using cycle lengths of more than two consecutive cardiac cycles. Beat patterns may indicate the temporal relationship between successive cardiac cycles. The heartbeat processor can generate repeatability indicators based on statistical measurements of various beat patterns. The AF detection system includes an arrhythmia detector for detecting AF based on the repeatability indicator and distinguishing AF from other arrhythmias with atrioventricular conduction abnormalities.
