The liquid crystal composition comprises one or more compounds represented by general formula I which is shownin the description, wherein m is 0, 1 or 2; R1 and R2 each are C1-10 straight-chain or branched-chain alkyl, or C2-10 straight-chain or branched-chain alkenyl; and one or more of non-adjacent CH2 groups in R1 and R2 are replaced by oxygen atoms. The liquid crystal composition can be used for various types of liquid crystal display devices, for example, black and white displays such as TN, STN andthe like, and TFT displays and bistable liquid crystals such as TN, IPS, FFS, VA and the like, and has the characteristics of small dielectric, high clearing point and moderate refractive index.
