Abstract

The invention provides a slice downloading method and apparatus for streaming media data and a streaming media system. On the server side of a streaming media system, the method includes the steps of conducting virtual slice processing for an audio and video file stored on the server, generating slice information file of the audio and video files and a slice list file , returning the corresponding slice list file to a client upon reception of an audio and video file playing request sent by the client, actually slicing the audio and video file according to the slice information file as for the virtual slice data downloaded by the client according to the slice list file, generating a slicing file in a preset packaging format, and returning to the client. Through the means, the problem that the service performance is affected and the system stability is reduced due to large amount of file fragments stored in the hard disk of a current streaming media server can be solved.
