[0124] Constipation, the most important and debilitating non-motor symptom of Parkinson's disease (PD), was induced in mice by intrastriatal injection of 2.7 μg of rotenone via stereotaxic access to the brain. Previous epidemiological studies have demonstrated that exposure to this pesticide induces Parkinson's disease (PD). In addition to the observed constipation, intrastriatal injections with rotenone also resulted in the well-known motor symptoms of PD, evidenced by the impaired ability of mice to remain on a moving rotarod (see figure 1 ). Rotary pole treadmills consist of a plastic pole with a non-slip surface above the base (stop ram). Mice were placed on an accelerating rod, the speed starting at 2 rpm and gradually increasing to 20 rpm. The rodent's ability to remain on the rotarod (time to first fall) was recorded for a maximum of 5 min. Prior to baseline, train mice with the rotarod apparatus to rule out learning effects throughout the experimental period.

[0126] The effect of a diet comprising a pyrimidine derivative (UMP) and a source of PUFA (DHA) was studied in a treatment setting, wherein the dietary treatment according to the invention was started 4 weeks after injection of 5.4 μg of rotenone or vehicle and continued for 7 weeks . Six experimental groups of male C57B1 / 6J mice were used, in which vehicle (sham group) or rotenone treatment was used, and in which received a control diet or a diet according to the invention (diet 1 or diet 2), as shown in the table below:

[0129] The composition of the control and active diets is shown in the table below.
