In an embodiment, utilizing an anti-lock braking system ( TPMS and methods of signals sensed by ABS) can be combined with direct tire pressure sensor measurements from direct TPMS systems. Because the direct TPMS system delivers precise values of tire characteristics such as tire pressure, one of the unknown parameters affecting the resonance effect can be removed. As a result, the detected resonances can be used to characterize additional tire parameters that would not be available without knowing the exact values of the tire characteristics delivered by the direct TPMS system.
