The invention discloses a method for producing tripropylene glycol methyl ether .The method is characterized in that the method comprises the following steps: carrying out a ring opening addition reaction on a raw material propylene glycol methyl ether extracted tower bottom liquid and epoxypropane under the action of a highly alkaline catalyst, recovering excess 2-methoxy-1-propanol in the above obtained synthesized products, and rectifying to obtain dipropylene glycol methyl ether; neutralizing a dipropylene glycol methyl ether extracted alcohol ether solution by oxalic acid to neutrality, filtering out generated oxalate by a screen mesh, rectifying for separating light components, and distilling to obtain the tripropylene glycol methyl ether product; and washing wet sodium oxalate by methanol, and rectifying the obtained methanol solution to recover sodium oxalate and methanol and obtain an alcohol ether solution with a high boiling point.
