Abstract

A patient-specific surgical plan is generated from medical image data by a method which includes receiving an orthopaedic surgical plan request from a computing device of a healthcare facility via a network, receiving a medical image of bony anatomy of a patient, and receiving constraint data corresponding to an orthopaedic surgical procedure to be performed upon the bony anatomy of the patient. The orthopaedic surgical procedure is assessed to determine whether it is difficult orthopaedic surgical procedure. A first surgical plan for the procedure is generated if it is determined that the procedure to be performed is not difficult, and a second surgical plan is generated if the procedure is difficult.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates generally to orthopedic surgery, and more particularly to systems, devices, and methods for generating a patient-specific orthopedic plan from medical images of a patient's bony anatomy. Background technique [0002] Orthopedic surgeons implant orthopedic prostheses into a patient, for example, to correct or alleviate bone and / or soft tissue loss, trauma, and / or bone deformation in the patient. Orthopedic prostheses can replace part or the entire joint of a patient's joint. For example, orthopedic prostheses can replace a patient's knee, hip, shoulder, ankle or other joints. In the case of knee replacement, an orthopedic knee prosthesis may include a tibial tray, a femoral component, and a polymeric insert or bearing disposed between the tibial tray and the femoral component. In some cases, the knee prosthesis may also include a patella prosthetic component that is secured to the posterior aspect of the patient's patell...
