The preparation method of the thixotropy bentonite slurry comprises the following steps: preparing sodium bentonite, preparing bentonite-based slurry, preparing the modifying agent and finally preparing the modified bentonite. The mud-making rate, the viscosity increasing efficiency and the de-filtration effect of the bentonite prepared by the method provided by the invention are greatly improved, and the modifying effect of the bentonite is far superior to that of bentonite modified by using a single modifying agent.
