The method comprises the following steps that a near-end machine of the digital optical fiber repeater converts a downlink network signal into an intermediate frequency signal; the near-end machine packages the intermediate frequency signal into a CPRI frame signal according to a CPRI protocol; the near-end machine sends the CPRI frame signal to a remote terminal of the digital optical fiber repeater; the remote terminal detects whether a data link with the near-end machine is connected; if the data link of the remote terminal and the near-end machine is connected, the remote terminal acquires the intermediate frequency signal in the CPRI frame signal; and the remote terminal fills the acquired intermediate frequency signal into an IQ data segment. Through the method of the invention, the intermediate frequency signal is directly packaged into the CPRI frame signal and transmission is performed; frequency mixing is not needed and all the carrier frequency signals do not need to be moved to a base band so that a processing step before the transmission is reduced and real-time performance of the signal transmission is increased.
