The method comprises the steps of: when a first preset condition and a second preset condition are met, acquiring a temperature signal on an air outlet of a vehicle battery, wherein the first preset condition is that the air inlet temperature of a battery pack is within a preset temperature range, the second preset condition is that after the air inlet temperature is acquired, time is delayed by a period, and the period is the time on flowing from the air inlet to the air outlet by air; judging whether the temperature of the air outlet is larger than a preset temperature at normal temperature or not, if so, opening a heat radiating air duct; or else, starting a heating board. The method and the system for controlling the battery temperature of the electric vehicle not only can be used for radiating heat for the battery in hot weather, but also can be used for heating the battery in cold weather; and meanwhile, the method and the system can intelligently judge whether ambient temperature is suitable for driving or not and carry out corresponding treatment, and can guarantee the battery to work in a comparatively appropriate operation environment to a certain extent.
