Abstract

The present invention relates to a method of operating a spinning station of a semiautomatic open end spinning frame and spinning station to implement the method. The spinning station includes a spinning device for producing a thread, a thread stripping mechanism driven by a single motor, and a winding device for forming a cross-wound bobbin. A length of a faulty thread, which overriding on the cross-wound bobbin, is determined during occurrence of thread fault. A spinning process at a functional area (2) is interrupted. The cross-wound bobbin is rotated unwinding of the faulty thread manually against a winding direction (R). The unwinding length of the faulty thread is monitored. A signal is indicated, when the faulty thread is unwounded again by the cross-wound bobbin.
