Embodiment Construction

[0043] Figure 1 uses 10 labeled chambers. Chamber 10 has an inlet opening 12 and an outlet opening 14 . The chamber 10 is rotatably placed on a support (not shown in the figures) about an axis 16 so that the chamber 10 can be placed in different positions. The chamber 10 is rotated by an electric motor (not shown in the figures). The chamber 10 is lockable in two positions that are staggered by an angle of 180°.

[0044] In the position of the chamber 10 shown in FIG. 1 , the inlet opening 12 is located below the outlet opening 14 . In this case, the outlet opening 14 is situated vertically above the inlet opening 12 . This corresponds to the second position of the chamber 10 according to the invention, which corresponds to the first operating state of the device. The face facing the upper chamber 10 on the drawing in FIG. 1 (on which the discharge opening 14 is arranged) is in fact also positioned upwards in the device according to the invention, while the face facing the...

Abstract

The invention relates to a method and to a device for preparing biological samples by means of a series of different liquids containing preparation agents in a chamber (10) which comprises a first and a second opening (12, 14) for introducing the liquids into the chamber (10) and removing them therefrom. When the liquid which is to be introduced into the chamber (10) has a density less than the liquid in the chamber (10), said chamber (10) is placed in a first position wherein the first opening (12) is located above the second opening (14). When the liquid which is to be introduced into the chamber (10) has a higher density than the liquid in the chamber (10), the chamber (10) is placed in a second position wherein the first opening (12) is located below the second opening (14).

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a method and a device for the preparation of biological samples according to the preamble of claims 1 or 8 by means of a series of different liquids containing preparation reagents. In this way, samples can be marked, for example, by staining. Background technique [0002] For various inspection methods of biological samples, such as transmission electron microscope inspection of biological tissue sections, it is necessary to prepare samples marked by staining. Staining is performed by treatment with a preparative reagent such as a solution of heavy metals. Uranyl acetate solutions and lead citrate solutions are generally used for this purpose in electron microscopy. Dissolved heavy metals adsorb to certain cellular structures and thereby enhance contrast in electron microscopic images. For the processing of tissue sections, different methods have hitherto been used, ranging from manual contrast adjustment to automatic metho...
