Embodiment 1

[0091] Example 1: Preparation of Salvia Miltiorrhiza Extract and Administration of Extract to Diabetics

[0092] Chinese herbal medicine Danshen 150g was boiled in 900ml of distilled water for about 2 hours, the total liquid volume was reduced by about 450ml. The boiled extract was cooled at room temperature, gravity filtered through multiple layers of gauze, divided into thirds and stored at 4°C for later use. Three times a day, about 150 ml of the extract was administered each time, and each patient drank before morning, noon, and dinner, and the course of treatment was four weeks. Example 2: Treating Diabetic Nephropathy with Salvia Miltiorrhiza Extract

Embodiment 2

[0093] Twenty Chinese patients exhibiting diabetic nephropathy participated in the study. The age range of the patients ranged from 42 to 69, including 12 men and 8 women, see Table 2.

[0094] All patients used had type 2 diabetes mellitus, NIDDM, according to the criteria established by the World Health Organization (WHO Expert Committee on Diabetes Mellitus. Second Report. Geneva. Tech. Rep. No. 6461980). Urinary protei...

Embodiment 3

[0101] Embodiment 3: the preparation of fine acid inorganic salt

[0102] According to the modified previous protocol, the inorganic salt of succinic acid was prepared from the extract of the Chinese herbal medicine Salvia miltiorrhiza. 100 g of dan was mixed with 800 ml of 80% methanol for 3 days at room temperature. After the insoluble matter was removed by gravity filtration through gauze, the methanol in the liquid was removed under reduced pressure. The aqueous layer of the filtrate was sequentially extracted with hexane, diethyl ether, dichloromethane and ethyl acetate, each with 300 ml, four times. Freeze-drying of the resulting aqueous layer yielded 30 g of solid material. SiO 2 It is used as a matrix, and the mixed liquid of isopropanol, water and ethyl acetate with a volume ratio of 3:1:3 is eluted, and the frozen solid matter is chromatographically fractionated to obtain the inorganic salt of succinic acid. From 100 grams of salvia miltiorrhiza, about 1.01 gra...

Abstract

The invention discloses treating diabetic nephropathy and microalbuminuria with Chinese herbal medicine Salviae Miltiorrhizae Radix. Including boiling salvia miltiorrhiza to make a water-based extract, and then applying the extract to diabetics or microalbuminuric patients to treat diabetic nephropathy. In addition, it also includes the use of succinic acid inorganic salt extracted from Danshen to the sick body. The present invention also includes measuring the protein level in urine before, during and/or after administering the water-based extract or the inorganic salt of succinic acid to the patient.

Description

Background of the invention [0001] Diabetic nephropathy accounts for approximately one-half of long-term renal dialysis and end-stage renal disease patients (Robbins, S.L., et al. "Basic Pathology", 2nd ed. Ch. 13 W.B. Saunders, Philadelphia, PA 1976). Microalbuminuria is a precursor to diabetic nephropathy (Abbott, K.C. et al. Arch. Intern. Med. 154: 146-153, 1994; Neil, A. et al., Diabetes Care 16: 996-1003, 1993; Mattock, N.B. et al. Diabetes 41:736-741, 1992). Medical management strategies, such as hypoglycemic management, antihypertensive therapy, and low-protein diet, can alleviate the clinical symptoms of diabetic nephropathy and microalbuminuria. However, such medical treatment must monitor the patient meticulously, is costly, and often incurs harmful side effects, especially when the patient's diabetic nephropathy state or microalbuminuria has been present for some time and protein intake has been difficult to control. Medical treatments are less effective. Thus, t...
