Abstract

The invention provides a message broadcasting method and equipment. The method comprises the steps that: a target host machine where a target virtual machine in the same broadcast domain with a local virtual machine is located is determined after a broadcast message isreceived from the local virtual machine; transforming the broadcast message into a unicast message, and sending the transformed unicast message to the determined target host machine, wherein the unicast message carries a broadcast domain identifier and a broadcast processing mark; after a virtual switch on the target host machine receives the unicast message, if the unicast message carries the broadcast processing mark, the unicast message is restored into a broadcast message, and a target virtual machine in the broadcast domain is determined from the virtual machines running on the target host machine, and the broadcast message is sent to the determined target virtual machine. By using the method provided by the invention, the occupation of the broadcast message on the network bandwidth is reduced while the message broadcast is realized, and the resources of the host machine equipment are saved.
