Abstract

The invention provides an edible seaweed straw prepared by taking sodium alginate as a main raw material. The seaweed straw is prepared by the following steps: preparing a gel solution from the sodium alginate with the viscosity of 10-100 MPa.s, sesbania gum and a softening agent, uniformly coating a mold with the gel solution, and drying; and immersing the dried mold in an edible acid solution of divalent metal salt, and after immersion, preparing the edible seaweed straw through subsequent conventional straw-making steps. The prepared edible seaweed straw is an edible biological material, and has the characteristics of safety, no plasticizer, no toxic or side effect, 100% full bio-degradation, acid resistance, ultrahigh temperature resistance, low temperature resistance and the like. The tensile strength of the prepared edible seaweed straw ranges from 70 MPa to 100 MPa, the elongation at break ranges from 5% to 8%, and the water solubility is smaller than 3%.
