According to the friction damper, damping force is increased along with increase of displacement, so that certain rigidity and energy dissipation capacity necessary for shock absorption are provided for a structure, and the energy dissipation capacity is enhanced along with increase of the displacement of the structure; and the displacement response of a building structure can be effectively controlled during a large earthquake, the horizontal rigidity and damping of the structure are both increased, and the stability and safety of the structure can be greatly enhanced.
