Problems solved by technology

Although many of these approaches have been shown to protect viral particles and / or detarget virus from natural target tissues (especially the liver), such approaches often disrupt the evolutionary pathways of viral entry into cells and thus limit viral infection capacity of tumor cells
Use of pH-sensitive cationic polymers mitigates this limitation, but creates toxicity concerns
Although technologies for the modification of viral particles are highly desired, none have entered the clinical setting to date

Embodiment Construction

[0061] It will be readily appreciated that the components of the embodiments as generally described and illustrated in the drawings herein may be arranged and designed in a variety of different configurations beyond the representative embodiments described. Accordingly, the following more detailed description of representative embodiments, as shown in the accompanying drawings, is not intended to limit the scope of the claimed embodiments, but is merely a description of representative embodiments.

[0062] Reference throughout this specification to "one embodiment" or "an embodiment" (etc.) means that a particular feature, structure, or characteristic described in connection with the embodiment is included in at least one embodiment. Thus, the appearances of the phrase "in one embodiment" or "in an embodiment" etc. in different places in this specification are not necessarily all referring to the same embodiment.

[0063] Furthermore, the described features, structures, or cha...

Abstract

A method of modifying a virus for in vivo delivery to a region of interest includes forming an enveloping composition including a lipid conjugate formed by conjugating at least one lipid with at leastone hydrophilic compound via a linkage which is cleavable under conditions present in the region of interest and combining the virus with the enveloping composition to encompass the virus within theenveloping structure.
