Problems solved by technology

This unpredictability can make the applicability of SPS or any other delay-aware scheduler to V2X traffic inefficient, as periodic resources need to be provisioned in a conservative manner to ensure minimum QoS requirements are met

Embodiment Construction

[0048] The following techniques and apparatus are described in the context of V2X communications and, in some cases, may be described using LTE standard-specific terminology. However, it should be understood that the disclosed embodiments may be applied to any service of similar nature, and / or to other wireless systems. The service may be provided over a cellular link or a direct link such as a side link or a D2D link.

[0049] The specific embodiments discussed here provide particular advantages for traffic with some periodic component, such as CAM traffic for ITS, with a maximum frequency generation of 10 Hz and packets typically between 190-300 bytes . However, these techniques can be used more generally.

[0050] Traditional cellular SPS (Semi-Persistent Scheduling) comprises a first configuration step, where the parameters for periodic resource allocation are signaled from the eNB to the UEs involved. This is followed by an activation / deactivation step where the actual...

Abstract

In one aspect, a wireless device receives, from a wireless network node, two or more semi- persistent scheduling, SPS, configurations, each of the SPS configurations defining a plurality of periodic transmission opportunities for the wireless device, at least two of the two or more SPS configurations having different periods for the periodic transmission opportunities. The wireless device then transmits data corresponding to a first traffic type or a first radio bearer according to a first one of the two or more SPS configurations and transmitting data corresponding to a second traffic type ora second radio bearer according to a second one of the two or more SPS configurations.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates generally to wireless communication networks, and more particularly to resource management in networks with side-link operation, such as between vehicles. This technique can be applied to semi-persistent scheduling between two nodes, including more generally between a wireless device and a wireless network node or other wireless device. Background technique [0002] The Third Generation Partnership (3GPP) is responsible for developing and maintaining the specifications for the fourth generation of wireless systems, commonly referred to as "Long Term Evolution" or LTE, and more formally known as Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access (E-UTRA) or Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN). During the development of the Release 12 release of these specifications, the LTE standard was extended to include features to support device-to-device (D2D) communications, targeting both commercial and public safe...
