Embodiment Construction

[0037] The present invention is further described below according to the examples.

[0038] Quartz sand is provided for the production of cuboidally elongated sleepers for the superstructure of gravel track beds in the conventional manner. The bulk density of the sand is about 1.9g / cm 3 , the Mohs hardness is 7 and the average particle size of the sand particles is 0.1-<0.5mm.

[0039] Likewise, plastic granules are provided which consist of a mixture of polypropylene plastic granules (PP granules). The melt flow index of PP plastic particles measured under the conditions of 230°C and 2.16kg load is greater than 20.

[0040] Before being mixed with the plastic granules, the sand is heated to 220° C. by means of a heated wick immersed in it and heated by means of thermal oil. In contrast, the temperature of plastic pellets is equal to room temperature.

[0041] The hot sand is then mixed with plastic pellets. The sand and plastic granules are dosed in such a way that the s...

Abstract

The invention relates to a method which enables ties for the track superstructure which have optimized performance characteristics to be produced in an operationally reliable and cost-effective manner. To this effect, the method according to the invention provides the following work steps: a) providing a mixture which consists of 10-60% by mass of a granulate of a plastic material deformable by the application of heat and, as the rest, a sand having a bulk density of 1.4-2.0 g / cm3; b) heating the mixture to a temperature of 150-200 DEG C; c) filling the mixture into a compression mold in the shape of the tie; d) compressing the mixture in the mold with a compression pressure of 1-5 MPa measured in the mixture over a compression duration of up to 60 minutes; e) removing the tie from the mold.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a method for producing sleepers molded from a plastic-sand mixture for use in track superstructures. Background technique [0002] In this document, references to standards and similar provisions always refer to the version used at the time of filing this application, unless otherwise stated. [0003] The track over which a rail vehicle travels is part of the track superstructure and consists of the rails over which the wheels of the rail vehicle roll, the sleepers which carry the rails and hold them in place, and the rail fixings by which the rails are secured on the sleeper. In this case, the sleepers are usually supported on a gravel track bed ("gravel track bed superstructure") or on a hard substrate ("hard track"), for example made of cement slabs or the like. [0004] In use, sleepers are subjected to high loads. Not only must they absorb the weight of the guide rail and the rail vehicle, but also the high dynamic load...
