The method includes: monitoring triggering on a view switching condition by a master node of a block chain, selecting a succession node by the master node of the block chain when triggering the view switching condition is monitored; and switching a current view to a view, which takes the succession node as a master node of the block chain, by the master node of the block chain according to the succession node to enable the successive master node of the block chain to initiate consensus. By utilizing the embodiment of the application, view switching is all initiated by the master node of the block chain without the need for an additional consensus process, and thus an additional computation amount and processing time consumption in the block chain can be reduced.
