A first processing chip in the mobile terminal comprises a first temporary buffer and a first modulator-demodulator, a second processing chip in the mobile terminal comprises a second temporary buffer and a second modulator-demodulator, the first modulator-demodulator is connected with the second modulator-demodulator through a UART, and a capacity value of the first temporary buffer and a capacity value of the second temporary buffer synchronously change; the second modulator-demodulator caches an acquired to-be-transmitted data packet in the second temporary buffer, and therefore the first modulator-demodulator can acquire the to-be-transmitted data packet from the first temporary buffer; and the capacity value of the first temporary buffer and the capacity value of the second temporary buffer are equal to the sum of a default capacity value and an increment value, and the sum of the default capacity value and the increment value is larger than or equal to the size of the to-be-transmitted packet. According to the mobile terminal and the data transmission method, the problem that in the process that the mobile terminal achieves double-LTE communication, the mobile terminal is likely to be crashed when telecom card data is transmitted between two processing chips is solved.
