The water retention reinforcing agent capable of prolonging the opening time of construction comprises powder and emulsion, wherein the powder comprises: 70-80% of silica fume, 5-10% of fumed silica, 6-10% of water reducer powder, 8-12% of dispersible emulsion powder and 1.0-1.5% of polyacrylamide; the emulsion is water soluble acrylic emulsion. A preparation method of the powder comprises the following steps: fully pre-mixing measured polyacrylamide and water reducer to form premix; and sequentially adding measured 50% of silica fume, fumed silica, dispersible emulsion powder, mixture of polyacrylamide and water reducer and 50% of silica fume and stirring the mixture with a gravity-free mixer for over 10min, so as to obtain the powder.
