Problems solved by technology

[0005] 1) The same storage gateway supports multiple types of storage protocols, and as a hub for protocol conversion and forwarding between different devices, the scalability is poor
[0006] 2) All I / O access requests are first captured by the storage gateway, and after the protocol conversion is performed by the storage gateway, the actual I / O requests to the back-end physical devices may be formed, and there may be performance bottlenecks
[0007] 3) The storage gateway is deployed on the access channel of the server and storage device, and the support for direct-attached storage (local hard disk) is insufficient

Embodiment Construction

[0033] The technical solutions of the present invention will be described in further detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings and embodiments.

[0034] The flow chart of an embodiment of the virtual volume access method of the present invention is as follows figure 1 shown.

[0035] In step 101, when a virtual machine accesses a virtual volume, a first request is sent to a corresponding storage gateway. The first request may be an access request, including address information of the storage gateway and address information of the virtual volume. The virtual volume and the virtual machine are located on different virtualization platforms, and the virtual volume and the storage gateway are located on the same virtualization platform.

[0036] In step 102, the storage gateway performs protocol conversion after receiving the first request, converts the first request into a second request using the protocol of the platform where the storage gateway is located, and ...

Abstract

The invention provides a virtual volume access method and a virtualization system and relates to the field of virtualization. The virtual volume access method of the invention comprises following steps: a virtual machine sends a first request of accessing a virtual volume to a corresponding storage gateway; the storage gateway utilizes protocols of a virtualization platform to convert the first request into a second request and sends the second request to a resource pool; the resource pool sends feedback content to the storage gateway; the storage gateway utilizes the protocol of the first request to convert the feedback content protocol and then send it to the virtual machine. By means of the method, when a virtual machine accesses virtual volumes in different virtualization platforms, protocol conversion can be executed by the storage gateway of a virtualization platform where the resource pool is located so that cross-platform virtual volume access is realized; the storage gateways are positioned inside virtualization platforms, which reduces the conversion load of storage gateways and eliminates the network performance bottleneck of virtual volume access.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to the field of virtualization, in particular to a virtual volume access method and device. Background technique [0002] In a cloud computing environment, a user creates a virtual machine through a cloud management platform, and dynamically adds a virtual volume (disk) to the virtual machine. Virtual volumes are implemented through the back-end block device storage supported by the cloud management platform. Common types of block devices include DAS (Direct-Attached Storage, direct-attached storage), NAS (Network Attached Storage: network-attached storage), SAN (Storage Area Network, storage area network), distributed storage, and object storage. Different types of block devices have different performance and prices. Correspondingly, users' demand for storage is also flexible and changeable, requiring different levels of storage services for different businesses. Most mainstream cloud platforms support a single type of back-en...
