The cross breeding method comprises the following main steps of parent fish cultivating, artificial inseminating, fish seed cultivating, cultivating in a pool, etc. Mandarin fish is selected as female parent fish and the slender mandarinfish is selected as male parent fish and furthermore intensive cultivation is performed. Artificial propagation technical measures of hasten parturition according to a male-and-female synchronous one-time exogenous hormone injection method, artificial dry-method inseminating, circular-channel water-flow hatching, etc., fish seeds are hatched. A segmented cultivation mode is adopted. High-palatability fish bait is applied. Furthermore breeding management in a seed period and a mature period are reinforced. The invention provides the method for improving the growth traits of the slender mandarinfish. The shape of the crossbred slender mandarinfish which is generated according to the method is different from that of the male parent fish and that of the female parent fish, and furthermore the growth advantage is better than that of the male parent fish.
