Embodiment Construction

[0032] Embodiments of the present invention will now be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.

[0033] The present invention can be applied to iron-type golf club heads regardless of the loft angle α (alpha) and the loft angle β (beta).

[0034] Typically, in the following embodiments, the lie angle α is set within a range of 50 to 70 degrees, and the loft angle β is set within a range of 15 to 70 degrees.

[0035] In showing the club head 1 as an embodiment of the present invention figure 1 and 2 Among them, a club head 1 includes a club head body 2 and a socket 3 .

[0036] The head body 2 is defined by a face F, a rear surface 4 and a peripheral surface 5 .

[0037] The club face F is the hitting face.

[0038] The face F is a single part formed of a substantially flat face except for the strike zone markings 6 (if any). As for the hit area mark 6, typically, a groove is used, but a punched mark or the like may also be used.

Abstract

An iron-type golf club head having: a club face for hitting a ball; a sole extending rearwardly from a lower edge of the club face and in the direction of the toe and heel of the club head to define a lower surface of the club head; and A socket extending upward on the heel side of the club face and provided with a shaft insertion hole. The head is composed of a head body including a face, the weight member having a specific gravity greater than that of the head body, and a weight member fixed to the head body. The weight member integrally comprises a first portion extending in the toe-heel direction in the sole and a second portion constituting at least a substantial portion of the socket.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an iron-type golf club head including a weight member having an improved configuration so as to be able to hit a golf ball high with ease and to be excellent in directional stability of the shot. Background technique [0002] Heretofore, various iron-type golf club heads have been proposed to improve directional stability and flight distance of hit balls. [0003] For example, the following Patent Document 1 discloses an iron-type golf club head in which weight members having relatively high specific gravity are respectively embedded in the toe, the heel, and the sole of the head. The head can be provided with a lowered center of gravity and an increased moment of inertia about a vertical axis passing through the center of gravity of the head, and therefore, the direction stability of the shot of the head is excellent, and it is easy to hit the golf ball get high. [0004] However, in the golf club head according to P...
