Abstract

A method and device for detecting breaking and closing positions of vacuum circuit breaker contacts are provided. According to the method, due to the fact that capacitance of a shielding case changes when the vacuum circuit breaker contacts break and close, a capacitance value of the shielding case is calculated by detecting a value of a copper foil induced electric field at the position of the shielding case on the surface of a vacuum circuit breaker, and the breaking and closing positions of the contacts are determined. The device comprises copper foil, an electric field sensor and a detecting and processing unit, wherein the copper foil as high as the shielding case is attached to the surface of the vacuum circuit breaker and connected to the input end of the detecting and processing unit through a lead. By means of the method, the breaking and closing positions of the contacts in an arc extinguishing chamber of the vacuum circuit breaker are acquired indirectly by detecting the value of the induced electric field at the position of the shielding case on the surface of the vacuum circuit breaker.
