Abstract

A fast handover method is provided. At a source eNB, the method may include: receiving a measurement report sent periodically from a mobile node, wherein the sending of the measurement report is triggered no later than the mobile node arriving at a reference triggering point (RTP), and the measurement report comprises location and velocity information of the mobile node besides the conventional measurement information; performing handover preparation; and executing handover to a target eNB no later than the mobile node arriving at a reference handover point (RHP), With particular embodiments, the measurement results may be reported in time by defining an RTP and the handover may be executed timely by defining an RHP. Moreover, by defining an HTT, the handover preparation including data bi-casting may be started not too early, such that the consumption of network resources may be minimized. Accordingly, the handover time may be reduced and the handover success probability may be increased.
