Abstract

The invention discloses an output circuit and a method for detecting whether a connecting port is connected to a transmission line or not. The output circuit comprises the connecting port, a voltage output stage and a judging circuit. The connecting port is used for being selectively connected with the transmission line. The voltage output stage is used for providing an output end point for a first signal and fetching a second signal from the output end point, wherein the output end point is connected to the connecting port in a coupled mode. The judging circuit is connected to the voltage output stage in a coupled mode and generates a judging signal according to the first signal and the second signal so as to indicate whether the connecting port is connected to the transmission line or not. According to the output circuit and the method for detecting whether the connecting port is connected to the transmission line or not, when no transmission line is connected, a signal processing device in the output circuit is in the power saving state or turned off, and therefore unnecessary power consumption can be avoided. In addition, due to the fact that a detection mechanism of the output circuit is carried out inside the output circuit, an additional signal connection pin is not required to be arranged in the output circuit to detect the transmission line connecting state, and the hardware cost and the circuit area are saved.
