[0029] Optical coherence tomography (OCT) techniques have been commonly used in the medical industry to obtain information-rich content in three-dimensional (3D) data sets. OCT can be used to provide imaging to catheter stylets during surgical procedures. In the dental industry, OCT has been used to guide dental procedures. In the field of ophthalmology, OCT can produce accurate and high-resolution 3D data sets, which can be used to detect and monitor different eye diseases in the cornea and retina. Different scanning configurations have been developed for different industries and different clinical applications. For example, scanning configurations have been designed to acquire information in ganglion cell complexes (GCCs) (see US Patent Application Publication 2008 / 0309881). GCC has been demonstrated to provide precise information useful for the clinical diagnosis of glaucoma disease (see Tan O. et al. [Ophthalmology, 116:2305-2314 (2009)]). Other useful scanning configur...
