The improved OPGW optical cable, which is provided by the invention and can flexibly, independently and locally establish monitoring communication at an actual monitoring point according to the actual condition of a line without influencing an existing communication transmission circuit of the line, comprises a main group optical cable consisting of an inner layer aluminium-covered steel wire, main group optical fiber units and outer layer aluminium-covered steel wires; and a subgroup optical cable is arranged outside the main group optical cable. Meanwhile, the invention also provides a processing method of the OPGW optical cable. After the double-stranded OPGW optical cable disclosed by the invention is adopted, the main group optical cable and the subgroup optical cable are relatively independent, so that when a monitoring signal needs to be transmitted, the subgroup optical cable at the monitoring point only needs to be cut off, and thus, communication of substations at both sides of the optical cable and a system cannot be influenced.
