Benefits of technology

This new type of metal removal agents are designed specifically for use during melting processes like smelters or foundries where it helps reduce unwanted impurity elements such as magnesium (Mg) from scrapped aluminums that may affect their quality and performance when reused into other products made through these methods.

Problems solved by technology

This patented technical problem addressed by this patents relates to how much more expensive scrapped or used aluminium can be recovered from waste materials than what was previously possible without reusing them.

Embodiment 1

[0024] In Example 1, the weight percentages of the components in the iron removing agent are: 35% sodium chloride, 35% potassium chloride, 15% sodium fluorosilicate, and 15% cryolite powder. The weight ratio of the aluminum slag to the iron removing agent is 10:3.

Embodiment 2

[0025] In Example 2, the weight percentages of the components in the iron removing agent were: sodium chloride 30%, potassium chloride 30%, sodium fluorosilicate 20%, and cryolite powder 20%. The weight ratio of the aluminum slag to the iron removing agent is 10:4.

Embodiment 3

[0026] In Example 3, the weight percentages of the components in the iron removing agent were: 40% sodium chloride, 40% potassium chloride, 10% sodium fluorosilicate, and 10% cryolite powder. The weight ratio of the aluminum slag to the iron removing agent is 10:2.

[0027] Sodium fluorosilicate is a double salt, which decomposes under heating conditions: Na 2 SiF 6 →2NaF+SiF 4 ↑, SiF4 is a gas, the degree of decomposition increases with the increase of temperature, the resulting bubbling is small, the contact surface area with the melt is large, and the bubbling floats up in a tortuous path under spray conditions, and the residence time in the melt Long and remarkable refining effect. NaF can interact with Al in the melt 2 O 3 Reaction; 2NaF+Al 2 O 3 →2Na 3 AlF 6 +3Na 2 O, to achieve slag removal.

[0028] Adsorption mechanism: fluoride has an adsorption effect on non-metallic slag in the melt, and as the content of fluoride increases, the adsorption effect is enhanced.

Abstract

The invention discloses an iron removal agent for recovering waste aluminum. The iron removal agent is composed of 30wt.%-40wt.% of sodium chloride, 30wt.%-40wt.% of potassium chloride, 10wt.%-20wt.% of sodium fluorosilicate and 10wt.%-20wt.% of cryolite powders. The iron removal agent is applicable to the process that scrap aluminum is subjected to remelting by using a method of adding slurry base solution, and in the process of remelting scrap aluminum, the iron removal agent is added, wherein the iron removal agent can be embedded on surfaces of scrap iron in cutting substances, the embedded scrap iron in the cutting substances is brought to the surface of a molten liquid with the upward floating of non-metal slag inclusion, and molten aluminum is obtained after the slag inclusion are removed. Accordingly, iron content in the process of remelting the scrap aluminum is effectively reduced, and aluminum liquids after the scrap aluminum is recovered can be used as a raw material for hub production.
