The method comprises the steps of: acquiring a protocol-independent multicast neighbor list of all routers whose sharing network segments belong to the same multicast group, wherein the protocol-independent multicast neighbor list comprises protocol-independent multicast neighbor relationships of all the routers and forwarding identifications of the multicast data of all the routers, the forwarding identifications of the multicast data are used for determining whether forwardingthe multicast data of the multicast group or not; and determining the number of downstream neighbor routers of any router according to the protocol-independent multicast neighbor relationships and pruning the forwarding path of the multicast data according to the number of the downstream neighbor routers of any router and the forwarding identifications of the multicast data of each downstream neighbor router of any router. The invention shortens the pruning delay of the forwarding path of the multicast data in the sharing network segments and saves network bandwidth resources and the multicast router resources.
