[0591] The lemon-flavored fragrance was encapsulated in microscopic melamine polymer shells ranging in size from 5-100 μm. The polymer shell is hermetic to the encapsulated fragrance, thereby retaining the fragrance until the release trigger is activated. (However, the polymer shell is thin enough that its structural integrity is easily disrupted by mechanical agitation; such as by applying a puff of moving air to the surface of the polymer shell). Microcapsules are sprayed onto the filter cartridge, and the cartridge is vacuum sealed. The filter cartridge is then opened and installed into the bathroom hand dryer. When the hand dryer is turned on, a stream of warm air (about 50 degrees Celsius) passes through the filter cartridge. Air flow structurally disrupts the polymer shell walls of the microcapsules and releases volatile aromas. The cartridges were left in the hand dryer and the scents were tested several times a day. A good release profile of the fragrance could be ...

[0593]The formulation of suitable compositions in the form of stable perfuming gels is taught in US Patent No. 5,419,879 to Vlahakis et al. No. 5,419,879 teaches the manufacture of perfuming stable gels composed of combinations of chemical ingredients. The melting temperature of the flavored stabilizing gel ranges from approximately 125 degrees Fahrenheit to 150 degrees Fahrenheit. The preferred melting temperature of the gel is about 140 degrees Fahrenheit. The fragrance content of the fragranced stabilizing gel is from about 70% to about 85% by weight of the composition. A more preferred fragrance level is about 75% by weight of the composition. The stability properties of the perfuming gel disclosed in the prior art means that the gel can be maintained as a solid, homogeneous and homogeneous mixture. Perfuming stable gels do not liquefy or slurry under the above temperature conditions, but remain solid and have the above fragrance content.

[0610] In the prior art GB Patent Application No. 1,432,163 (CIBA GEIGY AG) the sustained release formulations applicable in the present invention are described. At room temperature and pressure, the release of the active substance in still air is negligible, but when The release is accelerated when the airflow is heated rapidly, such as in the vicinity of a fan or hand dryer.

[0611] According to the formulation in GB 1,432,163, excellent long-lasting deodorization can be obtained by preparing with the following air conditions:

[0612] 1) Gel agent: bentonite derivative or aluminum soap

[0613] Deodorants: dimethyl fumarate, or diethyl fumarate; and

[0614] Odor enhancers: diphenylmethane, diphenyl ether, bornyl acetate or mixtures thereof, where with bornyl acetate and linalool the deodorizing activity was evident even after 90 days.

[0615] 2) Gel agent: polymer resin

[0616] Deodorant: dimethyl fumarate, or diethyl fumarate;

[0617] Flavor Enhancers: Diphenyl Et...

Abstract

An airborne-bacteria filter arrangement is used with an apparatus that has an internal airflow. The airflow passes through a fibrous filter arrangement that has, on its fibres, a highly toxic bacteria-killing substance which entraps and kills bacteria in the airflow. A charcoal-infused filter removes the toxic substance from the airflow, and further filters can effuse beneficial substances to the airflow. The filter arrangement is sealed from germ intrusion. The filter arrangement is used in hand dryers and other apparatus such that the airflow can be sterilised to the extent of achieving 100% bacteria removal.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to improvements in assemblies for use in indoor equipment having internal airflow exhausted from the equipment into the environment of the occupants of the room. [0002] One aspect of the present invention relates to improvements in filter constructions, in particular for sterilizing air streams released from such indoor units. [0003] Other preferred aspects of the invention relate to features that facilitate the goal of 100% bacteria removal from the air stream. [0004] Other aspects of the invention also relate to improved appliances for releasing airflow, particularly but not exclusively hand dryers, hair dryers, vacuum cleaners, fans, air conditioners, refrigerators, tumble dryers. Background technique [0005] Bacteria Diffusion Through Airflow Devices [0006] Indoor equipment is known to draw in air and then expel it as an airflow into the environment of indoor occupants, and is therefore equipment that trans...
