In particular, the present invention enables the ablation of tissue located in internal vessels of living animals by means of a radio frequency (RF) antenna as part of a catheter. The catheter can be inserted into the lumen or body vessel of such an animal, and the RF antenna is positioned adjacent to the tissue to be ablated, where the RF energy is applied for tissue ablation.
