Abstract

The apparatus and method of the present invention provide processes that can be implemented by an operator and a computing device to analyze and display images of human skin. The system acquires a digital image from a camera or scanner. The system then determines which image area or areas to analyze using markers such as the corners of the eyes. The identified area is then analyzed to locate skin defects such as red spots and this defect is visually identified on the display. The severity of the defect was calculated and compared with the mean skin severity associated with the population. Additionally, a simulation showing improvements to the defective area is generated and displayed.
