Abstract

An optical disc device capable of recording a moving picture as well as a still image file other than the moving picture. The optical disc device includes: a microcomputer (4) for generating information on controlling a file to be recorded; recording means having a DVD signal processor (14) for combining the file to be recorded and control information corresponding to the file and recording the combined set on a program area of an optical disc, a random access memory (15), an analog front end portion (16), a motor amplifier (18), an optical head (19), and a spindle motor (20); and the microcomputer (4) functioning as control means for controlling operation of the microcomputer (4) constituting at least control information generation means and the recording means. According to a file attribute, the microcomputer (4) switches the file and the control information recording format for the program area.
