Embodiment Construction

[0021] Preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings. In the following description, some well-known functions and structures will not be described in detail.

[0022] The Gaussian approximation is useful in estimating the properties of encoders utilizing codes such as RA codes or low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes (see S.Y. Chuang, T.J. Richardson, and L. Urbane, Analysis of Sum-Product Decoding of Low-DensityParity-Check Codes Using a Gaussian Approximation, IEEE Trans.Inform.Theory, vol.47, pp.657-670, Feb.2001) joint decoding algorithm. For the Gaussian approximation, non-binary codes are represented in binary. Non-binary symbols can be elements of finite fields, namely Galios field GF(2 m ), and the correlation between binary symbols and non-binary symbols is also based on the finite field theory. This will be reflected in the embodiments of the present invention. When non-binary symbols ...

Abstract

An apparatus and method for weighted non-binary RA coding and space-time coding are disclosed. Transmission data is divided in the units of frames each having mN bits, and each frame is further segmented into N blocks, each block containing m bits. The N blocks are converted to N non-binary GF(2) elements. These N non-binary symbols are repeated by a repetition factor r. The rN symbols are multiplied by weighting factors being GF(2) elements other than zero. The rN weighted symbols are interleaved and accumulated. The rN accumulated symbols are transmitted to a receiver, or each of the rN accumulated symbols is demapped to m bits prior to transmission. Therefore, information can be transmitted reliably in a wireless communication system.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention generally relates to a channel encoder and a channel encoding method in a mobile communication system. The system utilizes multiple antennas at the receiving end to more effectively correct channel errors. Specifically, it is a method and device for implementing error correction encoding. The error correction code enables more reliable detection and correction of channel errors in a wireless communication system. Background technique [0002] In the mobile communication system, the transmitter adds corresponding parity data streams to the information data so that the receiver can receive the data information correctly. This encoding technique can be implemented in different encoders at the transmitter, such as: RS encoder, convolutional encoder, turbo encoder, and joint RS and convolutional encoder. The joint encoder consists of two part encoders connected together by an interleaver. [0003] figure 1 is a block diagram of a ty...
